Ken Starrfamous for his role as independent counsel investigating President Clintons Whitewater deal and eventually his Lewinsky affairtold CNN on Friday that we do not want investigators and prosecutors out on a fishing expedition. Starr, who took substantial criticism during the Clinton years for his extensive probe, often seen as overreaching the scope of his initial investigation, expressed his concerns that Special Counsel Bob Mueller might be doing the same in his investigation of Russias interference in the 2016 election. Asked about the news that Muellers probe has impaneled a grand jury, Starr said, I do think it is a, certainly a serious matter when a special counsel is accusedand I was accused of thatof exceeding his or her authority. That's a serious matter because we do not want investigators and prosecutors out on a fishing expedition.
