Chicago police on Wednesday questioned three persons of interest after two police officers were shot and injured in the city’s South Side in what was a targeted attack.
Two guns and a vehicle were recovered in the investigation. It appears the two were shot by a high-powered weapon, Anthony Guglielmi, Chicago Police chief spokesman, said on Twitter.

One officer was shot in the arm and the hip and the other was shot in back when two vehicles pulled along their car and someone started to fire indiscriminately.
Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson visited them at Stroger Hospital and said both were alert and expected to recover.
“We believe that the officers were definitely targeted,” Guglielmi told the AP.
The shooting happened in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, a high crime area on the city’s South Side. The officers were wearing civilian clothes at the time but had on vests with police badges on them, Guglielmi said.
